Aldus Notebook
Creation of the Aldus notebook. Drawing, typography, composition and production.
As lovers of paper and creative instruments, we fancied creating a prestige notebook, just because.
The creative idea behind this first notebook is a tribute to the Venetian Renaissance printer Aldus Manutius, a great humanist and brilliant publisher.
The personal and iconic emblem of Aldus (for bibliophiles, printers and designers mostly) consists of a dolphin (speed) and an anchor (stability). It is sometimes accompanied by its motto "Festina lente" (Make haste slowly).
His work was the starting point to create a singular object that embodies the Art of Thinking and the luxury of writing in the 21st century. The cover is dressed with a paper that evokes fabric, as is sometimes used in fine editions. As the notebook was primarily intended for writing, its pages are printed with fine lines and made of a soft and thick paper that makes the writing particularly comfortable.
This notebook has been conceived as an invitation to put down own's thoughts, projects and creations with pleasure and finesse.

The pale gold hot stamping marks a contrast with the matte cover.

We chose a beautiful, vibrant orange paper for the flylieves, to create an interesting effect with the quiet shade of blue used on the cover.
